What is an Assisted Living Community or Residential Care?

Assisted living communities along with residential care homes provide a combination of housing, personalized supportive services and health care designed to meet the needs of people who require assistance with daily living activities.  A typical person living in an Assisted Living Community may need help managing medication, bathing, or getting dressed.  While many are resistant at first, they wind up loving the environment.

  • Not usually paid for by Medicare and Medicaid programs
  • Assisted Living can be paid for by long-term care insurance policies, but most individuals pay the cost themselves.
